Apostle Joshua Asigbey of Worldwide Word Ministries has said a lot of Christians fall for fake prophecies because they do not know the Bible.
According to him, the Bible is a manual for Christians which already contains prophecies from God to his children, therefore, any other prophecy from a prophet should not contradict that of the Bible.
Speaking on Prime Morning, he explained that the duty of a prophet is to help Christians fulfil what the scriptures have said.
"So a prophet is not supposed to lead you to walk out of the scriptures, with this understanding, everybody that is attracted to prophecy must first know the Word of God," he mentioned.
Apostle Asigbey continued that prophesies are just an addition for guidance but they cannot replace the Word of God in any way, therefore, Christians should first be students of the Word to avoid deceit from fake prophets.
He also added that some prophets bring hasty prophesies in search for fame hence Christians should be on the lookout especially at the end of the year.
