The ongoing strike by the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) is significantly disrupting operations across the Ashanti Region, with several district assembly offices shutting down.
Red banners announcing the strike have been displayed at offices of assemblies, including the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly and Asokwa Municipal Assembly. Key departments such as client services, planning units, tax collection offices, and registries have all ceased operations.
Some staff who initially reported to work were reportedly unaware of the strike but later joined the industrial action after seeing the red banners and confirming the protest.
The office shutdown is expected to disrupt more essential services, leaving members of the public without assistance.
Activities including the processing of permits, licences, and other administrative services have come to a halt in the affected assemblies.
