The Volta Region House of Chiefs has called on President John Dramani Mahama to consider individuals from the region in the formation of his government.
Mr Mahama, a former President, reclaimed the presidency in a historic first, and the Regional House of Chiefs in a congratulatory message advocated the role of indigenes in the success of the new administration.
Togbe Tepre Hodo, the President of the House, in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency, asked the President to trust individuals from the Volta Region in the pursuit of his agenda for economic rejuvenation.
“The Volta Region plays a significant role in the cultural and economic landscape of Ghana; and as you outlined during your interaction with the Volta Region House of Chiefs during your recent campaign, our Region deserves its fair share of priorities as outlined in your manifesto.
“We want to urge you to consider our sons and daughters in forming your team, and to ensure that the region is represented adequately in doing so. They serve as role models for the youth of the region, and will undoubtedly support you in achieving your aims,” the paramount chief stated.
He pledged, on behalf of the traditional leaders, support for the new administration, and said the House would contribute to the nation-building agenda.
“We look forward to working collaboratively with your administration to address the challenges and the opportunities that lie ahead; and we believe that, under your guidance, we can foster development that aligns with the needs of the people, ensuring that no community is left behind.
“As you embark on this new chapter, please know that you have the full support and goodwill of the Volta Region House of Chiefs. We wish you great success in your endeavours and look forward to witnessing the positive impact of your leadership in the years to come.”
