A circuit court in Cape Coast has restrained 8 persons from getting involved the electoral activities of the NPP in the Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency.

The court granted the prayer of the plaintiffs who had gone to the court to injunct the said persons.

Supporters of the governing NPP in the constituency staged a series of protests and accused their MP and the constituency executives of a fraudulent election.

On Tuesday, some of the supporters intimated that acclamations were done at dawn and people who had neither picked forms to contest nor knew nothing about the elections were polling station executives overnight.

They contended that the purported elections (the acclamations) held by party executives through the elections committee were irregular and unwelcoming, hence the suing of the 8 people who were involved in the electoral process .

On Thursday, the court restrained the eight people and asked the parties to settle the matter.

Lawyer for the defendants, Andy Appiah Kubi indicated, no elections have been annulled by the court by the courts slammed the opposing side of mischief in misinterpreting the court's ruling.

The party supporters poured out onto the street with excitement after the court gave its ruling.

The jubilant party supporters chanted victory songs, beat drums, jumped in excitement, milled through the highway and then presented a petition to the Regional Party Executives.

“This is a sweet victory, and we are happy that justice has been served. However, we knew that what they had done was untoward, and that’s why we came to seek redress in the courts, "one of the supporters said.

Another supporter argued, “Our MP and the party constituency executives were sowing seeds of division by holding such questionable elections. We need peace, so we want the right thing to be done. We are happy that the court has vindicated our position. ”

Central Region Communications officer of the party, Robert Amissah, received the petition on behalf of the party and assured them the party would look into the various issues that have been raised and work on an amicable resolution.
