Former Black Stars Management Committee member, Ernest Thompson, believes the only solution to the decline of the senior men’s national team is to dissolve the entire team.
The experienced football administrator has claimed that there is too much conflict within the team, hindering its progress.
Thompson is calling for the dissolution of the team after Ghana failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in over two decades.
The Black Stars finished bottom of their group without winning a single game for the first time in the history of an AFCON qualifying campaign.
“This team [Black Stars] is a beleaguered team; it's a divided team. The only way out, whether you change Kurt Okraku or bring in George Afriyie, is to dissolve that team and form a new one, saying bye-bye to some of them,” Thompson said on the Joy Sports Link on Joy FM.
“They've done their best. When you start the team again with a new technical team, this team will rise. That's why I said there's light at the end of the tunnel.”
The Executive Council Committee of the Ghana Football Association is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, to make a decision on the future of Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo.
