The chiefs and people of the Dodome Traditional Area in the Ho West District of the Volta Region are set to climax this year’s Agadzi Annual Festival.

The event is expected to take place on Saturday, November 9 at Dodome Avexa.

This year’s festival aims to fund the construction of a state-of-the-art Traditional Council complex in the region. This initiative follows the recent induction of the paramount chief of the Dodome area, Togbega Kpangbatriku IV, into the Volta Regional House of Chiefs.

The festival will also showcase the culture of the Dodome Traditional Area and its potential for tourism development in the region and the country at large. The festival was launched in Ho on Saturday, 31st August 2024.

Mr. Gift Tsamah, an indigene of Dodome-Awuiasu and a humanitarian in the Ho West District, noted that the festival will be celebrated annually and will rotate among all six communities of the area.

Mr. Tsamah also stated that the festival would be used to encourage young people in the area to prioritise education, as education is a beacon for development.

This year’s festival is packed with various activities, including a morning church service at different churches in the Dodome area for prayers for a peaceful and successful celebration on Sunday, 3rd November. In the evening of the same day, a prayer night will be held in Dodome-Avexa.

On November 4, a quiz competition will be organised for all Junior High Schools in the traditional enclave, followed by traditional prayers and a general clean-up exercise in the various communities on November 5. There will also be a health walk, indoor games, and public health education on Wednesday, 6th November, after which sports activities and 'borborbor' performances will take place on Thursday, 7th November.

Athletics, musical shows, and floating activities are scheduled for Friday, 8th November, while the grand durbar will occur on Saturday, 9th November 2024. The festival will conclude on Sunday with a Thanksgiving service organised by the Christian community in the area.

The six communities that form the traditional enclave are Avexa, Awuiasu, Dogblome, Tsikor, Taleafenu, and Awlime.

This year's festival is themed: "Unity, Commitment and Development."
