The newly appointed Ag. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), Dr Saajida Shiraz, has extended her gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the opporptunity given to her to serve the country.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, February 20th, Dr Saajida Shiraz promised "to work assiduously to deliver on the government's commitment to improving educational financing."
I am grateful to President John Dramani Mahama for the call to serve as AG CEO of the Students Loan Trust Fund. I am humbled by the confidence reposed in me, and will work assiduously to deliver on his government's commitment to improving educational financing" she wrote.
She added, "It is possible for a Savelugu girl like me to ascend to the heights of public office because of education, so it is a dream come true to be given the platform to facilitate access to quality tertiary education for Ghanaian students. Thank you Mr President!
Dr Saajida Shiraz also thanked all who wished her well in her new role, as well as those who advocated for her, and promised to "carry her with confidence, grace, and humility." "I hold this role in trust for all of us. Insha Allah, we will not disappoint. Salaam!
About Dr Saajida Shiraz
Dr Saajida Shiraz is a distinguished expert in political science, public policy, and social justice, Dr Shiraz brings extensive experience in governance and economic management.
She has a strong background in policy development and implementation, making her well-suited for this role.
Dr Shiraz holds a Doctor of Philosophy and a Master of Philosophy in Political Science from the University of Ghana, along with a Master of Science in Public Policy from University College, London.
Throughout her career, she has played a pivotal role in shaping policies that foster inclusivity and economic empowerment.
Prior to this appointment, she served as the Director of Programmes and Operations at the African Centre for Governance and Economic Management.
She is also a graduate of the African Women’s Development Fund Feminist Leadership and Coaching Programme, a MILEAD Fellow, and an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society.
The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) was established in December 2005 under the Trustee Incorporation Act 1962, Act 106.
The objectives of the Trust Fund are to provide financial resources for the sound management of the Trust for the benefit of students and to help promote and facilitate the national ideals enshrined in Article 25 and 38 of the 1992 Constitution.
