The Ashanti Sub-Transmission Cable Maintenance team of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), with the support of their colleagues from the Obuasi cable team, on Sunday, April 27, worked tirelessly through the night to resolve an outdoor cable termination fault at Ghana Grid's Bulk Supply Point yard in Obuasi.
Working under the leadership of the Network Maintenance Manager, Ing. James Mensah Yevunya, the team joined their counterparts in Obuasi and commenced work at about 7:00 PM under challenging weather conditions, which included persistent drizzling.
But the team persisted to ensure the fault was rectified and power restored to affected customers by 11:00 PM.
The Ashanti Sub-Transmission region is responsible for planning, operations, and maintenance of the 33/11 kV Power Distribution System per operational standards and maintenance schedules to ensure a reliable, safe, and quality supply to customers within the Ashanti region.
The commitment of the team has received commendation from industry leaders, including Acting Managing Director of ECG, Ing. Kwame Kpekpena; Director of Operations, Ing. Emmanuel Akinie; Executive Secretary of PURC, Dr Shafic Suleman; and General Manager, Ashanti Sub-Transmission, Ing. Peter Kofi Fletcher.
"Thanks for the hard work,” Ing. Kpekpena said in his commendation notes.

Director of Operations at ECG, Ing. Emmanuel Akinie, remarked, "This is to express my profound appreciation to Ashanti Sub-T and the Ashanti South region, most especially the team that worked throughout last night to repair the faulty cable and restore supply to the Obuasi substation. Well done. Your hard work and dedication have paid off."
"Keep up the excellent work. I salute." Ing Akinie added.
This accomplishment underscores the ECG's commitment to service excellence, highlighting the team's resilience and dedication to ensuring a reliable electricity supply despite operational challenges.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer for Ashanti Sub-Transmission, Collins Manu, has said the commitment of the team emphasised the broader significance of this effort.
