Driven by passion, resilience and a determination to redefine boundaries, Evelyn Nsiah Asare is steadily carving a legacy that bridges sports excellence and academic distinction.

From the sidelines of competitive sport to the lecture halls of academia, her journey reflects a bold commitment to challenge stereotypes, particularly in spaces dominated by men.

Evelyn’s entry into sports dates back to the year 2000 during her undergraduate studies, a decision that would shape both her career trajectory and personal philosophy. 

At a time when female representation in sports leadership and media was limited, she made a deliberate choice to step forward.

“Sports have traditionally been a male-dominated field, and I wanted to help change that narrative,” she reflects. “I believed women also have a voice, a place, and the capacity to lead and excel in sports.”

Over the years, she has built a multifaceted career; thriving as an athlete, journalist, pundit, communicator and administrator. 

Today, she serves as the first female Vice President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana, a milestone that underscores her role in reshaping leadership dynamics within Ghana’s sports media ecosystem.

Her media journey has seen her contribute to leading platforms including Fox FM, Kapital Radio, Kessben FM, Metro FM and Trust TV, experiences that sharpened her voice and influence in sports journalism.

She credits her early professional grounding to mentorship from seasoned broadcaster Sometymer Otuo-Acheampong, whose guidance helped lay a solid foundation for her career.

Beyond the media space, Evelyn’s footprint across Ghana’s sports administration landscape is both extensive and impactful. She currently serves as Special Assistant to the Board Chairman of Asante Kotoko SC and Chief Executive Officer of Hasaacas Ladies FC. Her portfolio also spans roles with national teams, including the Black Queens, Black Princesses and Black Maidens, as well as youth development structures.

In addition, she contributes to sports governance as an Executive Board Member of the Badminton Association of Ghana and serves in academia as a lecturer and Head of Sports at Sunyani Technical University.

Yet, her ambition extends beyond sport.

In a strategic pivot that underscores her forward-thinking mindset, Evelyn pursued advanced studies in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, culminating in a PhD. Her decision reflects a desire to engage with real-world challenges beyond the sporting arena.

“I chose Logistics and Supply Chain because it solves real-life problems. It affects cost, efficiency, delivery and performance, and I wanted to contribute knowledge that can make organisations better,” she explains.

Her academic journey has been rigorous and transformative; progressing from a B.Ed in Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sports to a degree in Procurement Management, an MBA and MPhil in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and ultimately a PhD in the same field.

“The journey has been tough, stretching and transformational,” she says. “It feels fulfilling, humbling and rewarding because it reflects years of sacrifice, discipline and resilience.”

Now, Dr Evelyn Nsiah Asare stands as a symbol of possibility, demonstrating that excellence is not confined to a single path but can be cultivated across disciplines.

Her message to young women is both clear and compelling: “Do not be afraid to step into spaces people think were not made for you. Sports and leadership have long been male-dominated, but that is exactly why we must rise, break barriers and change the narrative.”

In redefining what is possible, Evelyn is not only advancing her own journey, she is opening doors for the next generation of women to lead, excel and transform society.
