The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has deployed teams across the country to engage key stakeholders following the recent reassessment of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme.
The nationwide engagement marks the Ministry’s transition into a critical next phase of the LEAP reassessment process, with a focus on communicating the outcomes of the exercise and explaining the Community Validation Process at the district and community levels.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening coordination among national, regional, and district-level institutions through consistent, policy-aligned communication.
This, the Ministry says, will ensure that clear and uniform information is shared on the reassessment outcomes, as well as the specific roles of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the validation process.

Participants in the engagement include political and administrative heads of MMDAs, such as District Chief Executives and Coordinating Directors, as well as members of District Reassessment Teams.
These teams comprise District Social Welfare Officers, planners, statisticians and Information Services Department officers, alongside other relevant stakeholders.

The Ministry explained that the collaborative engagement is designed to build local-level support, address concerns, and manage grievances arising from the reassessment.
It is also expected to deepen understanding of the reassessment outcomes, manage community expectations, and reinforce existing grievance redress mechanisms.

Through the nationwide exercise, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and evidence-based decision-making in the delivery of social protection programmes, assuring that the LEAP programme continues to serve Ghana’s most vulnerable households in a fair and credible manner.
