The Ghana Police Service has commended Ghanaians for their understanding, cooperation, and support throughout the year, acknowledging that their collective efforts have played a vital role in maintaining peace, security, law, and order across the country.

As the nation prepares to welcome the New Year, the Ghana Police Service has reassured the public that comprehensive security measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of all citizens and visitors throughout the holiday period and into 2025.

In a statement, the Police Service highlighted that residential and highway patrols have been intensified, aiming to improve public safety and protect both lives and property.

The increased patrols are part of a broader strategy to prevent potential threats and enhance the general security environment across the country.

In addition, Traffic Police officers have been deployed to key intersections and major roads to ensure the free flow of traffic and ensure strict adherence to traffic regulations.

Special attention will be given to areas where large crowds are expected, including those attending social, entertainment, and religious events during the New Year’s Eve crossover.

To further bolster safety, the Police will provide additional security at faith-based events and other social gatherings nationwide. The aim is to safeguard attendees and maintain a peaceful atmosphere during these celebrations.

Also, the Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure across the country, ensuring that there are no disruptions or security breaches that could threaten national stability.

The Police also took the opportunity to caution the public, especially faith-based organizations and individuals, against the dissemination of misinformation and disinformation.

The service warned that the publication of prophecies or rumours likely to cause fear, panic, or endanger lives would not be tolerated.
