The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has announced that the government has signed a $2 billion agreement with the Jubilee Partners to reduce gas prices and increase domestic gas utilisation.
Mr Jinapor disclosed this during a visit by Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang to the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition on Monday, January 27.
He said the agreement has received Cabinet approval and will soon be submitted to Parliament for consideration.
According to the minister, the deal is expected to significantly lower gas prices while improving production levels across the sector.
“We have signed a two-billion-dollar agreement which Cabinet has approved and which will be laid before Parliament. This will reduce the gas price from $3.1 to $2.5, increase gas consumption and also boost crude oil production,” he stated.
Mr Jinapor further revealed that the ministry has concluded another major agreement with the Sankofa Partners as part of efforts to further strengthen Ghana’s energy sector.
“We have also signed another $1.5 billion agreement with the Sankofa Partners, which is expected to increase gas supply, reduce prices and enhance production,” he added.
The agreements, he explained, form part of the government’s broader strategy to stabilise energy supply, lower production costs and improve oil and gas output to support economic growth.
