Basake Holy Stars delivered a dominant second-half display to thump Young Apostles 3-0 at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
The first half was a dull affair, with neither side managing a shot on goal. However, Basake Holy Stars were more clinical in the second half, with Prince Opoku scoring the opener shortly after the break.
Young Apostles' woes deepened when defender Emmanuel Kontor scored an own goal, doubling Basake Holy Stars' lead midway through the second half. Prince Tweneboah sealed the victory with a third goal in stoppage time.
This victory marks Basake Holy Stars' third win in their last five games and fifth overall in the league. The victory moved them to ninth place in the league standings, just four points adrift of the top four.
Meanwhile, Young Apostles are struggling, having lost three consecutive league games and just one point above the relegation zone.
