Aduana FC grabbed a crucial away win in Kpando after Patrick Mensah struck early in the second half to hand the Ogya Boys a 1–0 victory over Heart of Lions in the Ghana Premier League.
The breakthrough came in the 56th minute, capping off a disciplined Aduana performance against a Lions side that had been unbeaten at home this season with five wins and one draw before this afternoon's defeat.
Lions started the brighter of the two, controlling much of the first half and creating several half chances.
Their best opportunity fell to striker Michael Ephson, whose left-footed effort hit the side netting after a well-timed run into the box.
Before kick-off, it was a top-three clash with Aduana second on the table and Lions third.
And the visitors nearly doubled their lead late on when Hensen Amponsa broke away on a counter, forcing goalkeeper Odartey Lamptey into a strong save to keep the hosts alive.
In the end, Aduana held on firmly for the win which sends them top of the standings with 27 points.
Lions remain on 23 points in third place, though that could change as the remaining fixtures are played on Saturday and Sunday.
Up next, Heart of Lions travel to face Samartex, while Aduana return home to host Hearts of Oak.
