The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has directed a comprehensive audit of all health facilities in the Oti Region to support evidence-based planning and improve healthcare delivery.
During a two-day working visit to the region, the minister engaged with newly posted medical doctors and other health professionals to assess their working conditions and discuss issues related to motivation, retention and service delivery.
As part of the visit, the Minister inspected the proposed site for the construction of the Oti Regional Hospital.

He emphasised the need for proper documentation and due diligence regarding the land earmarked for the project, stressing that all legal and administrative processes must be completed to avoid delays to construction.
The minister also held engagements with the Oti Regional Coordinating Council, Members of Parliament, District Chief Executives, chiefs, other traditional authorities and key stakeholders.
Discussions focused on incentive packages for health workers and collaborative strategies to improve health outcomes across the region.

He noted that the comprehensive audit of health facilities would generate critical data on infrastructure, staffing levels, equipment availability, and service delivery gaps. He said this would enable the Ministry of Health and its agencies to implement targeted and effective interventions.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with regional and district authorities to strengthen the health system in the Oti Region and advance plans for the establishment of the Oti Regional Hospital.
