A parliamentary candidate aspirant, Godwin Ayikpa popularly called Casola has asserted that he is the right candidate to win the Central Tongu Parliamentary seat for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He believes his philanthropic works and connection with the grassroots would be enough grounds to influence electorates to vote for him in the parliamentary elections in December 2024.

“I can tell you that the sitting MP knowing the influence I hold is struggling and campaigning underground that I should not go through the primary,” he told Myjoyonline.com in Ho on the sideline of the vetting of parliamentary candidate aspirants for the NPP.

Primary

Mr. Ayikpa asserted that he stands tall among the three aspirants as his competitors are elected executives who have fallen out with the delegates, due to several factors.

He said his vision of livelihood empowerment among others resonates so well with delegates who have already endorsed his candidature.

He is confident of being elected to represent the NPP in the 2024 parliamentary elections and hopes to enhance the electoral fortunes of the NPP, in the stronghold of the opposition National Democratic Congress.

“I am confident of winning because I am contesting two executives who were voted for two years ago. During their campaigns, they promised to change the lives of the delegates when voted them into office but they couldn't do this. I am coming to empower the delegates and my message has been consistent not only for party members.

"I want to empower people. We are from an agrarian constituency; therefore, I have a plan to establish a farm project in all the electoral areas, and I have started that already”, he said.

Flooring the NDC

Mr. Ayikpa said he is focused on implementing livelihood empowerment projects, hence launching a project that aims at supporting constituents to operate commercial farms.

He said that through his organization, farm implements, including tractors, would be made available to the constituents free of charge to work on their farms.

He added that electorates have already bought into his vision of enhancing their livelihoods and, hence are clamoring for him to represent them in parliament.

“Most NDC faithful, especially the teeming youth, they look up to me. So the teeming youth of the NDC who are dissatisfied with the performance of the sitting MP, are clamoring for me.

They are saying 'well, if it is Casola, we will vote for him.' So it tells you that the dynamics are changing. They are not only looking at party flags but personality and that is why the seat is under threat”, he concluded.
