Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has said his journey as a musician is about to begin.
According to him, he has not made any major achievements in the music industry despite his accolades, stream and chart successes.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, Wizkid said: “The journey is about to begin for Wizkid. I don’t see myself as someone who has achieved something major yet. For me, music is a forever thing.”
Wizkid is one of the most awarded artistes in Africa He is one of Sub-Saharan Africa’s most streamed artistes across all platforms.
He is the second most followed Nigerian musician on social media after Davido. He has also won a Grammy for his work on Beyonce's Lion King album. His song 'Essence' featuring Tems is also Grammy nominated.
In December, Wizkid released his latest musical project, the “Soundman Vol. 2” EP.
The four-track project includes vibrant collaborations with industry heavyweights Wande Coal and Zlatan Ibile.
The release of this project comes a month after Wizkid hinted at taking a five-year hiatus from music.
The Afrobeats star stated that he would take four or five years off the music scene. He added that he is considering taking up football or golf.
