Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku says he looked up to Black Stars captain Andre Ayew while he was growing up.
According to the Leicester City winger, being on the same pitch as his childhood idol was an amazing moment.
Issahaku made his first appearance for the national team in September 2021 as the Black Stars beat Zimbabwe 3–1 in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
In an interview with Leicester City Football Club’s official media, the forward said: "When I was coming up, I looked up to André [Ayew], I liked how he was playing and how much passion he had for football. He always gave his all to the team and, at that time, I just loved him. I wanted to be like him, and now I play with him for Ghana."
"It was so amazing to be on a field with him. It was a great feeling to meet him. The most exciting part was when I went there, he guided me. He started to give me advice about the game and how to improve."
The Ghanaian is currently on loan at the Championship side from Sporting CP, scoring two goals setting up eight others in the second tier of English football.
