Vision FC head coach Nana Agyemang expressed relief after his team narrowly defeated Medeama 3-2 in a thrilling Ghana Premier League matchday 13 encounter at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex on Sunday.
Joshua Rhule opened the scoring for the home side in the 4th minute. They doubled their lead through Frank Duku, finishing the first half with a comfortable advantage.
However, the game took a dramatic turn when both teams were reduced to 10 men following a double red card incident in the second half.
Medeama took advantage and scored through Bernadinho Tetteh in the 70th minute and Michel Sarpong equalized in the 83rd minute.
However, Vision FC managed to score the winning goal to secure their third win of the season.
Nana Agyemang admitted that he would have been disappointed if his team failed to win after taking a 2-0 lead.
"If you're playing at home and you lead by two nil in 45 minutes and the opponent comes back to equalise, it's a little bit nerve-racking. Of course, I would have been disappointed if we didn't win the game," he said.
The coach admitted that Edmond was driven by frustration after we missed the penalty and that led to his dismissal
"I think that the red card didn’t help, Edmond was our transition unit any time we won the ball where we were looking for Edmond because he's very good with his one v ones," he added.
"I think it broke him when he didn't play the penalty and when that incident came he retaliated and he got that red card."
The coach also acknowledged that his team lacked concentration, which led to Medeama's comeback.
"We got that red card, and we tried to regroup, but then we conceded two goals," he added.
The win lifts Vision FC out of the relegation zone, and they will look to build on this momentum in their next game against Young Apostles.
