Minister-designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has pledged to uphold strict compliance with the law in all agencies under her ministry, emphasising zero tolerance for illegality.
Her commitment came in response to concerns raised by South Dayi MP, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, regarding alleged breaches by the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA).
The MP questioned the GSA’s reported practice of extending the shelf life of expired products, which he noted contravenes Article 1078 and related legislative instruments, including the National Quality Policy and product certification guidelines.

“The Ghana Standards Authority is there to ensure that we abide by standards. It would be ironic for them to flout the rules of standards,” Madam Ofosu-Adjare stated.

Addressing the issue, during her vetting on Wednesday, January 22, she acknowledged not having seen the Auditor General’s report detailing these violations but assured the public of her resolve to address such concerns if confirmed as Minister.
“I’m sure when I am given the nod and assume work at the ministry, I will take note of this and ensure that no illegality is condoned in any of the agencies under me,” she affirmed.
Madam Ofosu-Adjare further highlighted the crucial role of the GSA in maintaining quality and regulatory standards, stressing that any actions undermining these principles would not be tolerated.
