The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has officially launched the Ministry’s Online Digital Services Portal, describing it as a major advancement in Ghana’s digital transformation and public service modernisation efforts.
According to the Ministry, the new portal is designed to provide citizens, residents and corporate institutions with easy, convenient and centralised access to a wide range of Interior Ministry services that have traditionally required physical visits and manual processing.
In a post shared on Facebook on Wednesday, December 10, the Ministry noted that portal will host an extensive suite of services across citizenship, migration, security regulation and specialised administrative functions. Among the key services now available online are:
- Citizenship and Migration Services
- Immigrant Quota Permit Applications
- Renunciation of Citizenship
- Dual Nationality/Citizenship Applications
- Licensing of Private Security Organisations
- Permission to Import or Export Explosives
- Permit to Import or Export Arms and Ammunition
- Approval for the Exportation of Dead Bodies
The Ministry noted that digitising these services will not only streamline processes but also improve accessibility for Ghanaians both home and abroad.
Speaking at the launch, Mohammed-Mubarak emphasised that the digital transition will greatly enhance efficiency, transparency and accountability in service delivery.
He added that moving these sensitive and often time-critical services online will strengthen data security, reduce opportunities for corruption, minimise delays, and provide better revenue assurance through improved systems management.
The Minister highlighted that the digitalisation agenda will also eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy, making public service delivery faster, more reliable and more responsive to the needs of citizens.
The Online Digital Services Portal forms part of the government’s wider ambition to build a modern, secure and inclusive digital economy.
Officials say the long-term goal is to ensure that public institutions are equipped to operate in a digital-first environment, improving the efficiency of government services while expanding access to underserved populations.
The Ministry further indicated that the portal will be continuously updated and expanded to integrate additional services, ensuring long-term sustainability and ease of use.
