Joyce Bawa Mogtari, a Special Aide to the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has strongly criticized the Minister for Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong.
Her criticism comes in response to Mr Acheampong's reaffirmation of his statement last year, suggesting that the NDC would not emerge victorious in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking at a health walk organised by the NPP in the Eastern Region over the weekend, Dr. Acheampong asserted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would not relinquish power to the NDC.

"Last year I stood here in Mpraeso and said that whether NDC likes it or not they will never win the December 7 polls and therefore the NPP will not hand over power to them because they cannot win the elections. If you cannot win elections why do you want power to be given to you at all cost?"
"As at that time I made the statements Ghana was confronted with economic challenges which made it difficult for contractors to do their work, unable to continue agenda 111 projects among others", Mr Acheampong stated.
However, his remarks have sparked a public backlash, with some arguing that they undermine the country's peace in the run-up to the elections.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, April 2, Madam Bawa asserted that Mr. Acheampong does not have the authority to determine whether the NPP will hand over power.
She emphasised that if the NDC were to win the elections, no one could cling to power, and she urged the NPP to prepare for a transition out of office.
"It does not lie with you to determine whether to hand over, Byran. You will hand over. Start packing," she posted.
