When Real Madrid restarted their La Liga title-chasing quest last Thursday, listeners of Joy FM were given a treat.
The station, which has over the years become known for delivering commentary of international football competitions, is now offering the Spanish top flight for the first time. Not just La Liga, but Serie A as well.
“The decision to broadcast La Liga and Serie A is an opportunity to serve our audience with something different enough to pique their interest, and yet compelling enough for them to stay,” says Sammy Yirenkyi, Group Head of Sports at the Multimedia Group.
“We are delighted to partner Multichoice Ghana to be able to put these two big leagues on radio for our discerning listeners,” he continued.
The coverage of La Liga and Serie A – courtesy of DStv and GOtv – will continue for the rest of the season, as Real Madrid and Barcelona race toward an exciting finale, and Juventus look certain to pip all others to yet another Scudetto.
With these two new offerings, the Joy Sports team now has up to eight football competitions on its sporting retinue.
The staples include Ghana football competitions as a package (Ghana Premier League, and FA Cup), UEFA Champions League, Bundesliga, Serie A, German Cup, Coppa Italia and Premier League (on Sundays only).
