Government has declared Wednesday, June 28, as a public holiday to mark the 2023 Eid-ul–Adha celebrations.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Interior on Wednesday, June 21, said.

It has thus urged for it to be observed throughout the country.

“The general public is hereby informed that Wednesday, June 28, which marks Eid-ul-Adha, is a Statutory Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.”

Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated by Muslims across the world to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice of his son, Ismail.

It falls on the twelfth and final month in the Islamic calendar, Dhu al-Hijjah.

The date for Eid-ul-Adha may vary between countries, as it is based on lunar sightings.
