The Konongo Arts and Youth Association in the Asante Akim Central municipality of the Ashanti region is set to celebrate the maiden edition of Konongo Arts and Youth Annual Carnival termed ‘KAYANIVAL’ this festive season.
The three-day event slated from December 25 to 27 will be a street carnival in the principal streets of Konongo with revelers adorned in festive costumes.
Among events that will take place are a street donation, artistes night, candlelight vigil and a fufuo party.
Speaking in an interview, the organiser of the event, Kingsley Kofi Owoahene Frimpong, said the main idea behind the programme is to empower the youth in Asante Akim Central through arts, entertainment and promote tourism in the area.
“With this KAYANIVAL, we can empower the youth in Asante Akim Central through arts and entertainment as well as the tourism sites in the Municipality,” he said.
He urged all stakeholders and youth in the municipality to get involved in the festivity to help achieve its target.
Konongo Arts and Youth Annual Carnival (KAYANIVAL) is the brain child of Konongo Arts and Youth Association; young and energetic citizens of Asante Akim Central Municipality.
The Association has over a 100 members with the vision to use the carnival to spice up festive seasons especially Christmas in Konongo and to promote development.
