Renowned international lawyer and public servant, Kow Abaka Essuman, has marked his 40th birthday with the release of a deeply personal and faith-inspired book titled Anchored in the Word: Forty Bible Verses That Shaped My Life.
The book, born out of a forty-day fast of gratitude, reflects on the Scriptures that have guided Mr Essuman through various seasons of his life.
On the eve of his fortieth birthday, he embarked on the fast to thank God for four decades of grace, favour, and protection.
Near the end of that spiritual exercise, during a quiet midnight prayer, he received what he describes as a divine instruction: “Write a book about forty Bible verses that have shaped your life.”
In an act of obedience and faith, Mr Essuman completed the work within ten days, compiling and reflecting on the passages that influenced his personal journey — from moments of triumph and waiting to leadership and renewal.
Anchored in the Word blends Scripture with lived experience, offering readers stories of divine guidance, resilience, and the transforming power of God’s Word.
More than a devotional, the book serves as both a testimony and an invitation — calling readers to trust God’s timing and to find stability in His Word, even in seasons of uncertainty.
Mr Essuman, who has served as Legal Counsel and later Acting Secretary to the President of Ghana, is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and Senior Partner at VINT & Aletheia Attorneys & Consultants. He lives in Accra with his family.
