Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has been assured of a resounding victory in Krachi Nchumuru constituency on January 31, 2026, when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) goes to the polls to elect its 2028 presidential candidate.
Krachi Nchumuru, during the 2023 NPP primaries, gave Dr. Bawumia the highest winning margin in the Oti Region with a 96% victory, and the constituency has vowed to do even better in January.
Speaking on behalf of party stakeholders in the region, the constituency chairman assured Dr. Bawumia of another resounding victory, detailing the strong support Bawumia enjoys among stakeholder groups.
"Here in Krachi Nchumuru, you have come home. If you remember, during the last primaries, Krachi Nchumuru gave you the highest vote in the Oti Region with 96%," the regional chairman said.
"We were with you the other time and we won't desert you this time. I have spoken to the delegates and I can confidently speak on their behalf."
"We have 17 constituency executives and 14 have declared for you. We have 17 electoral area coordinators and 13 have declared their support for you. We have five Council of Elders members and all of them say they support you. We have five patrons and they have all declared for you."
The chairman continued: "We have three former DCEs and they are all for you. Our former parliamentary candidates are also for you. We also have 24 former constituency executives and 22 of them have openly declared for you," the Chairman added and reiterated the constituency’s unwavering support.
"Here in Krachi Nchumuru, we are resolved to give you a massive support once again, together with our polling station executives. Our reason this time is simple: we believe in you and we believe in consistency."
"Consistency is important and loyalty is also important so once we have started with you, we will continue to be with you. We assure you that if we gave you 96% the other time, we will even do better this time around."
Dr. Bawumia began his tour by visiting three constituencies, Krachi Nchumuru, Krachi West and Krachi East respectively.
He received similar assurances in the other constituencies as members there welcomed him warmly and also declared support for him.
