President Akufo-Addo is entreating all Ghanaians including labour unions to continue to uphold and strengthen relations between government and the unions.
He said at the 2023 International Labour Day parade that the peace the country is enjoying presently should not be taken for granted.
"On this august occasion, I appeal to all Ghanaians including Organised Labour to build on the good rapport and excellent relations that exist between us. The peace we enjoy today should never be taken for granted," he said.
President Akufo-Addo was speaking at the 2023 May Day celebration held at the Jubilee Park in Bolgatanga in the Northern region.
According to him, the government will continue to support the labour union for the development of the country.
Speaking on the current state of the economy, the president has reassured the public of a rapid economic recovery. This, he said his government will not relent in achieving.
He has also hinted at steps being taken to mitigate the impact of the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) on the domestic financial sector.
According to him, the economic recovery measure has been quite successful.
Meanwhile, the president cautioned that there are people who would seek to capitalise on the current economic hardship for selfish gains and also jeopardise the "hard-won reputation of our country as the beacon of democracy and stability in Africa."
