Liberty Professionals have decided to sell their slot in the Ghana Division One League to another club as they have no plans of competing in the second tier again.
Despite the plan to continue their operation, the Dansoman-based side has withdrawn from competing at the top level of Ghana's football and will now focus on being some sort of an “academy”, developing players from grassroots with no focus on qualifying to the top divisions.
Liberty Professionals, according to a statement released on Tuesday, said they will operate as an academy with renovated infrastructure that includes player housing, training pitches, and other amenities.
According to the club, talent trainer John Oppong Welbeck would oversee the team's new plans.

In the last 20 years, the club has produced some of Ghana's best players, including Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah, and Derek Boateng, to name a few.
