The Information Ministry has updated the nation on President Akufo-Addo's new directive for military operations against mining in water bodies.
This forms part of measures to check illegal mining as well as protect the country's natural resources such as land and water bodies.
The President in his first term of office established Operation Vanguard, a Military task force charged with fighting galamsey.
The task force has since been in operation, however, it has been described as dormant by a section of the public over claims that their operations have not been effective in the country.
Nonetheless, the government on Friday updated the public on measures taken by the military task force against mining in water bodies.
