President John Dramani Mahama has expressed profound grief over the death of the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Mahama Naser Toure, describing the loss as sudden and deeply distressing.
In a message of condolence to the bereaved family, the President said the passing of the legislator was wholly unexpected and urged his relatives to draw strength from their faith during the difficult period of mourning.
“No one would have imagined that Toure would leave us so soon. His death has come as a shock to me, but God knows best. May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may his family remain strong in these trying times,” he said.
President Mahama’s tribute comes amid an outpouring of condolences from fellow lawmakers, party colleagues and members of the public, many of whom have paid tribute to the late MP’s dedication to public service and constituency work.
He further prayed for the peaceful repose of Mr Toure’s soul and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the family.
Mahama Naser Toure was a four-term Member of Parliament who served in several important roles in the House, including Vice Chairman of the Energy Committee, as well as membership of the Roads and Transport Committee, the House Committee, and the Private Members’ Bills and Motions Committee.
Beyond Parliament, he was widely admired for his community development initiatives, notably the “Operation Cement Your Lungu” campaign, which aimed to improve sanitation and uplift deprived communities in Ayawaso East.
