President John Dramani Mahama has ordered the immediate air evacuation of injured Ghanaian nationals following a deadly terrorist attack in Titao, in northern Burkina Faso.
The directive comes after a jihadist assault on February 14, 2026, which targeted members of the Ghana National Tomatoes Traders and Transporters Association operating in the area.
In a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Government of Ghana confirmed that the attack has now claimed eight Ghanaian lives. Seven traders were initially killed on the spot, while an eighth victim later died from injuries sustained during the incident.
According to the Ministry, President Mahama, acting on medical advice and in consultation with relevant authorities, has instructed that all injured Ghanaian victims in Burkina Faso be evacuated by air without delay.
“The Government of Ghana has decided to immediately conduct medical evacuation by air of all Ghanaian victims in Burkina Faso,” the statement said.
The Ghana Air Force has been tasked to carry out the medical evacuation operation, and the injured are expected to arrive in Ghana later today, Tuesday, for further treatment.
