Yes, MABA (I have come). Here are my five (5) recommendations to Make Accra Beautiful Again (MABA):
Consolidate all the (non-viable) assemblies in Accra into one Accra Metropolitan Assembly and elect a new mayor, with access to 10% DACF, vast property rate base, access to municipal bonds, ability to levy business rates and other local income taxes.
Let the new mayor/AMA and central government invest in construction of all metro roads and pavements, using central government resources and local government resources from No. 1 above.
Invest, through PPPs, in affordable housing and urban regeneration projects, focusing on less developed suburbs.
Strictly enforce sanitation by-laws of the new AMA, making sure that offenders face steep fines and/or custodial sentences.
Embark upon PPP industrial and commercial projects with the private sector within the 24-hour economy program, to create sustainable jobs in the city, promoting night economy with special focus on the services and entertainment industry.
