Ghana’s two most successful football clubs, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, have called for the Ghana Premier League to be made fully autonomous and managed by an independent body.
In a joint statement issued on Monday, February 10, 2025, the management of both clubs urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to grant the Ghana League the authority to operate independently.
In their proposal, they argued that this would allow for a fair distribution of sponsorship and TV rights revenue.
This comes amidst the stabbing of Asante Kotoko's famous fan “Nana Pooley” to death.
