Ghana Premier League champions, Medeama Sporting Club, have received support from Nana Akufo-Addo ahead of their participation in next season's CAF Champions League.
Akufo-Addo pledged to the Tarkwa-based side on Wednesday, August 2, on their visit to the Presidency to present the league trophy.
Ghana's Deputy Minister for Mines and Natural Resources, George Mireku Duker, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Tarkwa, led the players to meet the President. Others present were chiefs from the Apinto Traditional Council, the club's Board Chairman, Dr Tony Aubynn, head coach Evans Augustine Adotey, management and technical team members.
Medeama's opponents for the preliminary round of the Champions League qualifiers have been announced with the Ghanaian side facing Nigeria's Remo Stars. The first leg is scheduled for August 20 with the game set to be played at the Cape Coast Stadium.
"I will try to provide a million Ghana Cedis to help you in the CAF campaign," he told the club.
"The deputy minister is insisting that if I’m in Ghana on the 20th, I should come to Cape Coast. I’ll see.
"We’ll do our best."

Medeama beat Aduana Football Club to the betPawa league title in the latter part of the season, winning their first top-flight title in the process.
The team also received a congratulatory message from the President for their achievement. The triumph was also the first for the Western Region since Sekondi Hasaacas' triumph in 1977.
“Congratulations to you, the captain, and the members of the team for this historic achievement," he added.
"It’s been 47 years since a team from the Western Region won the cup. This is great.
"You’ve done a great job. Congratulations."
Medeama will hope to defend their league title in the upcoming season and will face Accra Lions in their opening fixture of the 2023/24 campaign.
