Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed gratitude to the chiefs and people of the Bono Region for the party’s overwhelming victory in the just-ended 2024 general election.
He said the electoral victory of the NDC was by collective efforts of all Ghanaians to wrestle political power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mr Nketiah expressed the appreciation when he addressed a victory rally in Sunyani, as part of his thank-you tour of the Bono Region, saying the victory was not easily achieved, and thanked the electorates in the region.
Madam Millicent Amankwah Yeboah, the Member of Parliament-elect for Sunyani West Constituency, called for national unity towards the nation’s reconstruction process, saying every Ghanaian had a role to play in building a better Ghana for all.
Mr Seid Mubarak, the MP-Elect for Sunyani East constituency, also praised the electorates for helping the party to capture the seat from the NPP’s 28-year rule in the constituency and pledged to work closely with the communities to spur rapid socio-economic growth and development.
The tour also took Mr Nketiah to the Berekum East, Berekum West and Tain constituencies where he interacted with the party supporters and some traditional authorities and thanked them too for the party’s victory.
At Seikwa, his hometown, Osabarima Debra Adjei II, the Paramount Chief, appealed to the next NDC government to reshape the Berekum-Seikwa, Seikwa-Nsawkaw and the Seikwa-Sampa roads.
He also called for the establishment of a police headquarters in the Seikwa Township to control the growing crime wave and also urged the NDC to complete abandoned projects at the Seikwa Nursing Training College when it assumed political power on January 7, 2025.
