A former Local Government Minister under ex-President Kufuor’s government, Kojo Adjei Darko, has taken a swipe at the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Without mincing words, he lambasted the NDC, especially their presidential candidate, former President John Mahama, for focusing solely on food during their political campaign.
According to him, whilst the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is campaigning about important issues such as the economy, health, roads, job creation, and others, the NDC is doing the contrary.
Adjei Darko, who is also the former NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani West in the Bono Region, stated that everything shows that the NDC is not ready to manage the affairs of the country.
In this regard, he implored the electorates to vote massively for Alhaji Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, the NPP presidential candidate, since he has proven to have what it takes to lead the country.
“Man must not live by bread alone. The NDC should focus on equally important things that benefit the people, whose votes they (NDC) are desperately hankering for to win the impending elections.
“So far, the NDC is only preaching about food in their political campaign to attract votes. Also, all the adverts being run by the NDC in the media are talking about food and nothing else.
“Clearly, the NDC is campaigning in a manner that seems to suggest that the country doesn’t have any challenges confronting it and that shows they are not ready for political power”, he noted.
Speaking at Chiraa where Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, aka ‘Napo’, the NPP Vice Presidential Candidate, visited to campaign on Saturday, Adjei Darko urged voters to reject the NDC.
According to him, the NDC, especially John Mahama, has so far not shown any sign that he can sustain the good works of President Akufo-Addo so he (Mahama) should be rejected once again.
“Managing a country properly to bring comfort and relief to the citizenry can only be attained by well-planned policies and programmes, and this is what the NDC and their flagbearer lack.
“John Mahama doesn’t have a single policy or programme to lead the country into affluence, that’s why when the NPP is preaching about pragmatic policies, he is also talking only about food”, he said.
Adjei Darko concluded by saying that Dr Bawumia has gone through the mill before rising to his current status in both the NPP and public office, so he is the ideal person to be elected as president.
