The joyous Moshood Abiola Stadium turned chaotic after the Black Stars beat the Super Eagles of Nigeria during the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier playoff on Tuesday.
The Black Stars booked their ticket to Qatar after a 1-1 aggregate scoreline.
Fans of the host country run to the pitch, vandalising whatever property they could lay their hands on.
They also turned their fury to the Nigerian players, CAF officials, Black Stars and their supporters.
Security at the stadium was outnumbered, therefore, resorted to firing tear gas to disperse the crowd.
CAF Medical officer Joseph Kabungo passed away after the incident. It is currently unknown what prompted the Zambian's demise.
Speaking on Joy FM, JoySports' George Addo Junior disclosed that Ghanaian journalists covering the much-anticipated game are all safe.
"However, speaking on Joy FM after the heated moment, JoySports' George Addo Junior said, "I am fine. I was taken away from the stadium by our very great friend, Oluwashina Okeleji, who led me, Fentuo [Tahiru], [Daniel] Koranteng, Eric Asiedu, Cobby Stone, about seven of us."
"He had to lead us to a quiet room to wait for the tensions to die down because after the game there very unsavoury scenes across and it was very dangerous for a Ghanaian fan because the Nigerians did not take it likely the fact that they had gathered in their numbers and it was Ghana who knocked them out of the World Cup qualifications," he noted.
For social media users on Twitter, the conduct of Nigerian fans is nothing to write home about and must be sanctioned.
Black Stars arrived at the Kotoka International Airport following their qualification to the World Cup on Tuesday evening.
