New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kwabena Agyei Agyepong has pledged to end the long-standing practice of abandoning public projects, vowing that all ongoing initiatives will be completed before any new ones are commenced under his administration, should he be given the mandate to lead the country.
Speaking at a press engagement to launch his six-pillar policy framework, Mr Agyepong said the approach would ensure value for money, strengthen accountability and restore public confidence in government delivery.
“We shall rationalise government expenditure and make a sacred vow, complete all existing projects before starting new ones,” he said.
“There shall be no more abandoned hospitals, no more uncompleted roads. We will institutionalise a maintenance culture across public infrastructure, restore fiscal sanity and rebuild public trust that every cedi is spent for the benefit of the Ghanaian people and that public money is for public good,” he added.
The NPP flagbearer hopeful also outlined plans to place structured urban development and rural renewal at the centre of his governance agenda if elected president.
Mr Agyepong said the country’s rapid and largely unplanned urban growth poses serious risks to sustainability, productivity and quality of life, and must be addressed through deliberate and coordinated policy choices.
