Tension briefly flared in the Asylum Down Electoral Area of the Klottey-Korle Constituency during the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) ongoing presidential primaries after some delegates accused a local coordinator of pocketing money meant for their transportation.
The delegates alleged that the Asylum Down electoral area coordinator failed to distribute GH₵700 provided by presidential hopeful Dr. Bryan Acheampong to support their movement for the voting exercise.
In a video shared by Accra-based Citi FM, visibly upset delegates confronted the coordinator, demanding an explanation for the missing funds. Voices were raised as the group insisted they were being treated unfairly.
One female delegate, overwhelmed by the situation, warned she would revoke curses if her money was not released. Others joined in chanting, “Give us our money,” as frustration mounted at the scene.
According to the group, delegates in other areas had already received their full transport allowances, but theirs had allegedly been reduced or withheld entirely.
The incident has added to the heightened emotions surrounding the NPP’s presidential primary, as thousands of delegates nationwide vote to select a flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Party officials have yet to formally respond to the accusations as the voting process continues across the country.
