The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the weekend held its Annual National Delegates Conference.
The Conference was held under the theme, “Holding together, Working together”.
Over 6, 000 delegates from the 16 regions of Ghana gathered at the Accra Sports stadium to elect their national executives who will steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.
At the end of the event which ended on Sunday, Mr. Stephen Ntim was elected Chairman. The highlight of the election was the defeat of incumbent General Secretary, Mr. John Boadu by Mr. Justin Frimpong Kodua.

Speaking in an interview with Emefa Apawu on The Probe on Sunday, the Chairman of the Election Committee explained why the theme was chosen. This became necessary because there is a perception that the theme was arrived at due to existing internal challenges in the party.
“We have realized that in any general election, there are certain key ingredients that one needs to be able to win an election. One key ingredient is unity. So looking at what has transpired over the last few months from polling station, constituency, and regional elections, some people lost and they think that well if they don’t want me in the party then I better go my way. But we are saying that no, you are a member, come let us hold hands and work together because it is an internal election,” he explained.
Mr. Mac Manu noted that the choice of theme is therefore to “bring these people together to hold our hand in unison and hold our hands together for the greater battle in 2024.”
He also threw light on why the election was held two and half years to the 2024 election, “party organisation and elections are held every four years on NPP’s calendar. NPP has structured its internal elections such that they stray two years away from the next election so that when new people come in, like Stephen Ntim and Justin Kodua, they will be able to pick up the pieces in time for the greater battle of the general elections.”

Other National Executive who were elected during the Delegates Conference are:
- Vice Chairman- Danquah Smith Buttey
- Rita Asobayire- 2nd Vice Chairman
- Alhaji Masawuud – 3rd Vice Chairman
- Henry Nana Boakye- National Organiser
- Kate Gyamfua-National Women Organiser
- National Nasara Coordinator- Abdul Aziz Haruna Futah
- National Youth Organiser-Salam Mohammed Mustafa
- Treasurer – Dr Charles Dwamena
Mr. Mac Manu said the new executive have the capability to win the 2024 elections. “NPP delegates never disappoint so the new executive have what it takes to break the 8,” he posited.
