Former President John Mahama has chastised the Akufo-Addo-led administration for failing to justify the mandate Ghanaians gave them in 2016.
According to him, many of the promises made by the NPP government four years ago could not be delivered.
"Our major opponent (NPP) are good at promises but poor at delivering. For them, their policy is that; say anything that the people will believe and vote for you.
"Political power is the most important thing to them. And when you get the power, whether you fulfill the promises or not; it doesn't matter," Mr Mahama said.
The NDC flagbearer said this Monday when he paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief and people of Sogakope in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region.
In February this year, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, scored the Akufo-Addo government 78 per cent of the 388 campaign promises the NPP made in 2016 as delivered.
But Mr Mahama believes otherwise.
According to him, the administration has failed to even provide essential commodities such as water and electricity to many communities especially those in the rural areas of the country.
He further added that the water projects started by his administration have all been abandoned.
The former President stated that the NDC under his leadership will not make campaign promises it cannot deliver.
"Between 2013 and 2016, under my administration, we borrowed a little above ¢54 billion. But all over the country you will see what we did with that amount of money.
"Akufo-Addo said we should compare track records. Now ask him; Today, Ghana's debts is ¢257 billion. In four years, he has borrowed more than ¢140 billion. So the simple question Ghanaians should ask is what has he (President Akufo-Addo) done with the money?" NDC Flagbearer quizzed.
John Mahama is confident that the NDC will annex power from the ruling party in the General Elections.
He, however, called on all Ghanaians to eschew violence as the nation inches closer to the presidential and parliamentary elections in December.
