The Executive Secretary of the National Peace Council, George Amoh, has said he is confident peace will prevail in parliament and is in no doubt about who occupies which side in the house.
According to him, the National Peace Council has engaged the leadership of parliament and he is sure that Right Honourable Speaker, Alban Bagbin will not lead proceedings to chaos.
"We are having some conversations behind the scenes as we always do. From the conversations we've had with some key actors and the leadership of parliament, I think reason will prevail over ego.
"The Speaker would have to make his statement and I am confident this statement will be reasonable, this Speaker will not lead this parliament to chaos," he said.
George Amoh said this on the JoyNews' AM show on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, with Benjamin Akakpo and Sweety Aborchie.
Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Correspondent, Kwaku Asante reports that both NPP and NDC legislators have occupied the seats of the majority side in the chamber.
For his part, the Executive Director of the Africa Centre for Parliamentary Affairs (ACEPA) Dr Draman Rasheed also speaking on the show expressed the hope that the two parties want to set a legacy with the development, adding that the legislators are showing their egos instead of modesty.
He said he hoped The Speaker would speak justly to avoid any uncertainty when he arrives.
"The right one is to walk into the chamber and give one simple statement," Dr Draman said.
