Pastor Christopher Agbeyanfia, the Regional Coordinator of the Middle-Belt Zone of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM) has advised Christian to do regular exercises, eat balanced meals to live longer and realise their potential in secular life and ministry.
He emphasised that though God had promised Christians of longevity, it behooved them to exercise regularly, eat more fruits, drink water frequently and reduce the consumption of sugary and canned foods to build body immunity.
Pastor Agbeyanfia gave the advice when he delivered a sermon at a joint service of the church for the observance of the Lord’s Supper at the Ridge Central Church in Sunyani, saying regular exercises improve digestion, remove toxics, and maintain body temperature as well as reduce blood pressure.
The service attracted congregants from the Church’s branches at Abesim, Yamfo, Nsoatre, Wawasua, Sunyani, Fiapre, Techire, Susuanso, Adrobaa and other local communities.
Pastor Agbeyanfia said it was also imperative for everybody to be exposed to moderate sunlight to increase Vitamin ‘D’ content and to strengthen the bones, saying that weak sunlight weakened the body system.
“As we are aging our bones become weak”, he said, and advised especially ministers of the gospel to have ample time for rest.
Pastor Agbeyanfia indicated that Christians could not compromise with self-control, urging everybody to avoid alcoholism and substance abuse and practice moderation in whatever they do as well.
Besides sin, he warned that the use of tobacco and illicit drugs and alcoholism ruined lives and contributed to stress related problems like depression.
Referencing Proverbs 3:5-8, Pastor Agbeyanfia concluded his sermon with a call on Christians to build and strengthen their trust and faith in God, saying that it was only God that could give lasting peace and emotional strength.
