This Saturday, JoyNews' Newsfile returned with a Special Edition that tackles two major national conversations shaping Ghana’s governance, accountability, and leadership discourse.
Hosted by Samson Lardy Anyenini, the programme featured the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, in an exclusive Oral Plus interview, offering rare insight into pressing legal and political issues confronting the country.

First on the table for dissection was President John Mahama's one year in office and the ethical leadership pledge.
The discussion comes in the wake of President Mahama’s first anniversary in office, which was marked with a solemn national thanksgiving service at the Forecourt of the Jubilee House. In his address, the President described the milestone not as a celebration of power or political victory, but as a moment for gratitude, reflection, and national introspection.
President Mahama acknowledged that the past year has been characterised by economic difficulties, heightened social anxiety, global uncertainty, and high public expectations. He used the occasion to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to ethical governance, integrity in public service, and national cohesion.
The analysis programme will interrogate how these reflections translate into concrete policy and action. One year on, what progress has been made in advancing ethical leadership?

The programme will also examine the detention of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) over questions surrounding his status in the country.
According to a statement from his legal team, Mr Ofori-Atta is cooperating fully with ICE while his lawyers engage U.S. authorities to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.
The statement explains that Mr Ofori-Atta has a pending petition for adjustment of status, a lawful process under U.S. immigration regulations that allows an individual to remain in the country beyond the validity of an initial visa while the application is being considered. His lawyers describe the process as a common immigration procedure and say they expect the issue to be resolved expeditiously.
Newsfile will place the development in a proper legal context, examining what it means—and what it does not mean—while exploring its broader implications for accountability, due process, and public discourse in Ghana.
