After close to three months of sitting, Ghana’s Supreme Court today, March 4 gave its final verdict on the 2020 election petition hearing filed by the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama.
The NDC’s flagbearer has been praying the court to nullify the declaration by the Electoral Commission and to cause a re-run between himself and his opponent, President Akufo-Addo.
The seven-member panel of Supreme Court Judges, in a unanimous decision, dismissed the petition on the basis of not finding any merit in his case.
On PM: Express tonight, Aisha Ibrahim and her guests deliberate on the verdict to help Ghanaians better understand the outcome.
Guest includes a Member of Akufo-Addo’s Legal Team, Frank Davies; NDC Director of Legal Affairs, Abraham Amaliba.
Also is Chief Technical Advisor of the University of Ghana School of Law’s Democratic Vigilance Project, Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor; and Associate Professor of Political Science, University of Ghana, Prof Ransford Gyampo.
