The Ghana Police Service says it has arrested two suspects in connection with a motorbike robbery at Sibakon Down near Comet Estate in the Eastern Region.
In a statement issued on February 17, 2026, the Eastern Regional Police Command said the robbery occurred on January 18, 2026, and involved the attack of an okada rider who was hired for a trip.
Police identified the main suspect as Kwabla Egblorgbe Gadoglo Mohammed, also known as Moha, aged 31, who was arrested at his hideout at Afienya on February 13, 2026.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Mohammed and a deceased accomplice allegedly hired the services of an okada rider, Muntari Zakari, from Kwabenya to Sibakon Hospital. The suspects reportedly attacked the rider with a locally manufactured pistol and a stone, robbed him of his iPhone 13 Pro, and demanded the key to his unregistered Royal motorbike.
According to the police, the victim raised an alarm, which led to the lynching of one of the suspects, while the other fled with the stolen phone.
A search conducted at Mohammed’s residence at Abokobi led to the retrieval of several items, including a cutter, scissors, hammers, a hacksaw, a cutlass, a jack knife, a saw, and three mobile phones.
Further investigations also led to the arrest of Kwame Accolor, alias Small Kidi, aged 37, at Anyako in the Volta Region. Police said he allegedly purchased the stolen iPhone 13 Pro for GH¢800.
The police added that efforts are underway to retrieve the locally manufactured pistol used in the robbery.
“The accused persons have been put before court,” the statement said, adding that sentencing of Mohammed, who pleaded guilty to robbery, has been deferred to March 10, 2026.
The Eastern Regional Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying intelligence-led operations to ensure public safety.
