Former Member of Parliament for Bantama, Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will initiate reconciliation efforts immediately after the presidential primary.
He believes this is essential to unite the party and recapture power from the ruling National Democratic Congress.
"The campaign of the gallant aspirants has rejuvenated the party. Though there have been some negative aspects, we should focus on the positives," he said.
Mr Kokofu noted that the primary campaign may have generated some animosity among party members, but these issues need to be addressed.
Speaking at the Bantama Constituency polling station, he said, "The NPP has what it takes to ensure these issues are sorted before the next election."
The Bantama Constituency has been fiercely contested among aspirants, with Dr Mahamudu Bawumiah and Ken Agyapong prominent.
The former MP described it as a friendly banter among delegates.
Over 36,000 delegates are expected to cast their ballots in 47 constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
In Bantama, 899 delegates are to vote.
As of the time of filing this report, the process was calm in the constituency.
