Stakeholders from across West Africa have gathered in Côte d’Ivoire for a high-level consultation aimed at reshaping the future of trade, economic integration and sustainable development in the region.
The meeting, running from 3rd to 6th March 2026, has been convened by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission as part of preparations for an upcoming Special Summit of Heads of State and Government.
Under the theme “Future of Trade, Economic Integration and Sustainable Development in West Africa”, the consultation is designed as an inclusive platform for dialogue on both longstanding and emerging challenges affecting regional integration.
Participants are expected to explore policy options that could strengthen cross-border commerce, enhance economic cooperation and advance sustainable development objectives.
ECOWAS officials say the discussions will feed into broader regional decision-making processes ahead of the Special Summit, which aims to set a renewed trajectory for the community’s economic and developmental agenda.
The consultation underscores ongoing efforts to deepen collaboration among West African nations and address structural barriers that have historically constrained growth and integration.
