The Member of Parliament for Salaga South, Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has launched a three-tier development fund targeting women, students and the youth, describing it as a long-term investment in the social and economic future of the constituency.

Speaking at the launch, the MP said the initiative is anchored on education, women's empowerment and youth development, with education serving as the foundation for sustainable growth in Salaga South. According to her, the programme is designed to ensure that no segment of the constituency is left behind.

“Education remains the bedrock of every meaningful development, and if we fail to invest in our young people today, we mortgage the future of Salaga South,” she said.

Under the education fund, Ms Ibrahimah explained that brilliant but needy students will receive financial support to help them access quality education and overcome barriers such as tuition fees, accommodation and learning materials. She disclosed that even before the official launch, several tertiary students from the constituency had already benefited from the initiative.

The women empowerment component is expected to support women-led initiatives and livelihoods, while the youth development fund will focus on skills training and opportunities aimed at reducing unemployment and promoting self-reliance among young people.

The MP used the occasion to call on traditional authorities, party executives, civil society organisations and residents to rally behind the programme, stressing that development requires collective effort.

“This is not a one-person project. If we all play our part, we can build a more inclusive and prosperous Salaga South,” she noted.

Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, who represents the constituency in Parliament on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), said the initiative aligns with broader national efforts to promote social inclusion, youth empowerment and access to education, particularly in underserved communities.

The launch was attended by local party officials, community leaders and beneficiaries, who welcomed the intervention as timely and impactful.
